Tide clock

Is it near low tide?

Most recreational clamming happens around low water. Predicted times from NOAA tide stations — not a status indicator; beds can be closed at any tide.

Every hotline, one tap

Status can change after a single heavy rain. The hotline is the authoritative answer.

Rain closures

Why beds close after rain

Many beds are “conditionally approved”: runoff after heavy rain can carry bacteria into the water, so they close automatically. Thresholds differ — Fairfield, Greenwich, Groton and the Niantic River use about 1.5″ in 24 hours; Darien uses 3″. Closures usually last at least 7 days.
